TIPS FOR PLACING NEWSPAPER ADS
 |
These are
some suggestions to help you make the most of your time and money as you
invest in promoting your business in the newspaper. There is also a
listing of suggested headlines and text to use in your next ad. |
• Be available to answer the phone. We understand that this could be
challenging, but many times people don’t like to leave messages. They want
to speak to a person and not a recording. If you are not available all day,
mention a time in your ad. For example: “Please call between 4 and 8 PM.”
• Do not try to recruit the person who answers the ad on the phone
immediately. The goal is to provide information to interested people AND
suggest an interview within 24-48 hours. If possible, arrange a time to get
together in person. Person-to-person always provides an added advantage.
• Begin a
Get inFORMed sheet on each prospect. Make notes
about anything you have discovered about your prospect. Follow up when you
said you would.
• Answer all the questions that she has, but also ask some questions to
learn more about her. Listening will help you build rapport and find out
more about her. Make sure this conversation sounds warm, personal and
friendly.
• Make sure the ad is clear about what you are offering. You don’t want your
phone to ring every minute with phone calls from people who are looking for
something else. You don’t need quantity, but you do need quality phone
calls.
• Typically, the best way to get desired results from advertising is to run
the ad for a period of time. Having an ad for only one or two days may not
give you the results you’re anticipating. Discuss the best strategy with the
newspaper personnel; they will have the information to help you maximize
your
ad’s exposure in your area.
• Magazines are also a good option in which to place an ad.
• If you receive a lot of responses…congratulations! It is suggested that
you organize opportunity meetings in your area in order to invite your
potential recruits. It’ll give you the convenience of meeting with more than
one person at a time, showing our wonderful products, talking about the
potential
income, etc.
